For God so loved the world....
While praying for one another happens at the most real and primary level face-to-face in small groups, this is a place to share prayer requests with the church body as a whole. Share and become aware of prayer needs within the body here. Click the box below to have prayer requests posted to the wall for the church body to pray for and encourage you.
Work The FieldFor God so loved the world....
I got stuck in terrible traffic on 66 the other day. I was driving (sitting still) for hours and was very frustrated and tired. God was able to use this experience to show his love and share his word. Praise God! It was about 94 degrees out and there was a broken down truck, on the side of the road. One older lady, a teenager and a five year old girl were attempting to walk 2 miles to the next exit ramp with a car seat and no water. The Holy Spirit spoke clear as day....pick them up, so I did. They were very nice and really appreciated the air conditioning. We made our introductions and exchanged pleasantries. The conversation moved to God and I told the lady that I was encouraged to pick them up because of the Lord. Silence... I couldn't let them walk in this heat with no water for that distance. I had to stop and help because I am a servant of the Lord and show God's love through my actions. I told them about McLean and how much I love it there. She said she had heard of us before. I told her how they encouage you to not only go to church and study the bible, but to live as Christ in your everyday lives. They asked a few questions but mostly stayed quiet. I am not sure what they thought. Please pray that they were encouraged to take any steps that would lead them to salvation.
I was able to speak to a care provider, for one of my clients the other day. I talked to her about McLean Bible Church and our outreach ministry. I told her how wonderful it was to be a part of a loving Christian family and how happy I was to serve our Lord and Savior, by speaking to people about Jesus Christ. I asked her about her beliefs and background. She was raised Catholic but does not attend, because she got pregnant outside of marriage. She was afraid to be judged, so she stopped going to church. I asked her if she has ever read the bible and she said no. I asked her if she believed in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and she said yes, but she has never made the commitment to give her life to him. She is currently raising her children with no biblical direction and they do not even know who God is. She seemed very upset by this so, I recommended to her to try attending McLean Tysons . I told her that there are programs for all ages and lots of ways to get connected with other families and believers. I said that the church focuses on the bible and really applies it to your life. I told her how much of a need there is for spanish speaking believers to talk to others who are not believers in Christ. How much she could make a difference in other people's lives by bringing them the message of Jesus Christ in their own language. Please pray for her and her two boys.
I arranged to have my hair and nails done at Yvonnes day spa for our wedding ceremony. While I was getting my hair done, I was able to talk to Maria, the hair washing specialist, at the spa. She was going through tremendous trials in her life. Her decisions had caused her to get very far off track in life and my heart went out to her. I asked her about her beliefs and she said that she had not been to church, since she was a child. She said she and her boyfriend were afraid to go back to church because they had not been living the right way. They thought they would be judged. I told her to pray. I really encouraged her to lay all her hurts and wrongs at the cross. I encouraged her to turn away from the sin and she will find Jesus there waiting with open arms and love. He is always there, we just have to make the choice to be with him. I told her no matter what she and her boyfriend have done, it can be forgiven and her life can be turned around again. Please pray that these words of encouragement and hope grow into a decision for Christ.
We were married in June. I arranged to have my hair and nails done at Yvonnes day spa for the ceremony. While I was getting my hair done, I was able to talk to Robin, my stylist, about McLean Bible and how I love my beautiful Christian family. How McLean really encourages us to get out there and live as Jesus did and share the message of Jesus Christ with everyone. She admitted to me that she no longer attended church but was a believer. She just stopped going because work and money became a focus. I really encouraged her to get re-connected with a church family and get back in the word. She agreed with me that she needed to re-commit to our Lord and Savior. I will continue to follow up with her next time I am in need of hair beautification. Please pray for her to give God her full commitment.
We were married in June. Having our audience's undivided attention, we asked Pastor Davis to put together something that would speak to our mostly unbelieving family. We felt this was a perfect opportunity to share the gospel and reach those who live so far away. Pastor Davis really allowed the Holy Spirit to work through him that day and our whole family go to hear the message of salvation. It even opened up conversation amongst ourselves afterwards. I know that my dad was really hurting and hearing Pastor Davis' message helped him to start looking up and to start thinking and talking about God. I am so thankful for such a beautiful opportunity to share and our heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Davis and our friends at McLean Bible Church who seek the Lords guidance in all they do. We will continue to pray for the salvation of our families and that God would help grow the seeds that were planted in their hearts, on that day.
I went out with 56 members of Frontline (Tysons) on Saturday night to Adams Morgan in DC. I filmed the Frontliners passing out tracts and sharing the Gospel with many people on the street. It was amazing to be with such a large crowd of Christians working together in evangelism. Pray for those who heard the Gospel that night -- that the Lord would open their eyes to understanding the message of Jesus Christ. And pray that God would raise up folks at the PW campus to engage in similar outreaches.
